In 2016, it was renovated from the "Treasure Hall" to the "National Treasure Hall."

A mirror that appears to be a "Da-Ryu-Kyo" and a "serpentine sword" were just discovered in the Tomio-Maruyama Tomb, located exactly 10km due west of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Looking at two dictionaries, "da" (not displayed on smartphones) is "likely to be a type of crocodile."

The theme of the summer/fall special exhibition is "Lucky animals and plants in patterns."

The grave goods were quickly transported to the Kashikoken, but we look forward to new excavations and new stories to be told.

We really enjoyed this small museum. The Dadaiko ceremonial drums were captivating. However, some of the meanings behind the exhibits were a bit difficult to grasp.

This new-ish museum housing the treasures of the Kasuga Taisha is located at base of the hill where Kasuga Taisha sits. The museum is rather small, but it houses a lot of interesting objects of high historical significance. The new and old ceremonial drums are quite impressive. When we were there, the museum was showing a special collection of animal figures. They were very fascinating.
