About
WAPLUS NARA is the Japanese kimono experience shop, just 2 minutes' walk from JR Nara station. We have a variety of Kimono related services such as kimono rental, costume photos and kimono school. Not only at our shop, we can offer these services at your accommodation or event venue as well. Why don't you enjoy kimono experience in the Ancient Nara. Service details; 1) Kimono School Waplus is one of the only kimono-school for foreigners in Japan, and will help you learn everything there is to know about the tradition of Kimono wearing. After a class on Kinomo history you will be taught how to dress, with amazing patience and attention to detail, the staff help you understand and perfect the intricate process. Knowing that you have learned the traditions and perfected the art yourself is truly rewarding, and the final outfit, with finishing touches from the teachers, is stunning. 2) Costume Photos For a once in a lifetime experience, the costume fitting allows you to transform into a princess, samurai or oiran—with a traditional outfit. Rather than using wigs, trained hairstylists will carefully recreate the authentic appearance using your own hair. When you are ready, the staff will help you dress in the many layers, slowly constructing your complex outfit. Finally, you can step into the studio for your shoot and then choose the final photos as a stunning reminder of your experience, and treasure them as a memory of Japan.

We wanted to buy a kimono. All the staff did their best to fulfill our requests. We wanted a kimono that was only for rent and they agreed to sell it. Actually they were worried because it was not a new item.
Nice price, very nice place and enchanting staff!!

We are on a budget, so we learned about used haoris that can be worn over western attire quite artfully. We passed the store advertisement earlier in the day, and finally got there after some touring. Nice selection and good prices, great service and they speak English.

Last minute decision, googled said to rent from this place and it was amazing! The staff are so friendly, their prices were good too! For us a couple, we paid 7500yen total and returned outfit by 6pm. Love the kimono designs, they were not too loud or flowery but looked very elegant and nice. I’ll definitely come back here and recommend this place to others who are looking to rent a kimono for the day.

I did a Kimono photoshoot at Waplus. Emailed them prior to the visit and they were very prompt with the replies. I visited when in the morning when the shop just opened so there weren't other guests. A fairly good selection of kimono available and prices are reasonable. Staff were also very friendly and patient. No pressurisation at all. They were also very clear with the different and additional charges. I would recommend this shop to anyone who would like to either rent or do a kimono photoshoot in Nara. In addition, the shop is located very near to the JR Nara station and is along the way to Nara park.

i have been to japan a few times and never have a chance to wear kimono. This trip to Nara we rent the kimono from Waplus store. The staff very friendly and professional. Initially I reluctant to wear kimono but the staff ensure you are comfortable. It is totally new experience and I love it. I would recommend my friend to visit Waplus Nara.

I tried on a kimono with all the accessories and had my picture taken. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made it a wonderful experience for me. The staff spoke very good English and also helped to tell us where some interesting sites were in Nara. I thought I would only have a couple of photos taken, but they took about 40 in all. Then, I got to choose the ones I liked the best. I had a couple printed out and also got the data for several other pictures. I am so glad I did this and had a Lotta fun. I would definitely recommend this kimono shop.

I visited this place with my daughter and we were treated to an amazing experience, From being dressed in traditional clothes to the visit to a buddhist temple where we took part in a tea ceremony then feeding the deer in Nara park. It was amazing from start to finish.

We bought Yukatas for our daughters at this store. The staff were exceptionally helpful and so friendly . The prices were reasonable and I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to purchase a kimono or Yukata to visit this store . Special mention to the wonderful ladies Masako and Yukumi for their wonderful assistance.

Bonjour, j’adorerais louer un kimono avec mon ami lors de mon passage à Nara pour me promener dans la ville. J’ai lu que cela était possible. Ma question : où mettons nous nos affaires (personnelles, chaussures; etc?) l’établissement a t’il un casier pour nous les garder ? Merci !
