My girlfriend and I had a lesson with Shiba on our visit to Nara. She was very fun and a great teacher. We had a great experience learning how to make sushi and the class ended with an awesome meal for us to enjoy along with super cute pictures for us to take back with us! Thank you Shiba!! Nara is an amazing city <3

Truly amazing experience. The lesson took about 30minutes and then we got to eat what we produced. Whilst creating the sushi we wore traditional sushi chef attire and received excellent guidance. Totally worth a visit and the fish was delicious.

Making sushi is hard! Until the a good teacher comes along and makes it easy and fun. Find such a teacher at the Umemori Sushi School at JR Nara Station. The teaching style transcends language and is certain to be a hi-light of one's trip to Japan.

We discovered these guys on a day trip to Nara. Definitely worth stopping there to learn how make sushi. They are enthusiastic and we had very clear instructions. Dressing up is always a bonus! The ingredients were fresh and the finished results were delicious and washed down with some yummy green tea. Overall a great experience.

We were going to Nara to see the sights, and at the station we saw people advertising the sushi making school. We dropped in on our way back, and we were glad we did.

We got to pick a traditional Japanese costume each, and made some sushi. Learnt a little sushi-related vocabulary and made and ate some very tasty sushi - the ingredients were great!

The best thing about it were the instructors - they were helpful, very enthusiastic and loads of fun!

The whole experience took about half an hour, and it was in the shopping centre of the main train station, so no detour required. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it!

My husband and I found this sushi school while looking for somewhere to eat lunch. The school is located beside the shops at JR Nara station. First our host Tsuyoshi-San taught us how to write our names in hiragana and then we got to choose authentic outfits to wear while making our sushi.
The lesson itself was excellent, our teacher Shiba-San was very patient and helpful and her instructions were really clear. Tsuyoshi-San took plenty of photos to help us remember our experience.
At the end we enjoyed our self made sushi with some green tea- I would definitely recommend this experience! 🍣

I visited Nara, and was invited to the school for free as they just opened! I got to make 5 sushi pieces and decorate them, and of course eat the at the end. The sushi school is a nice place to stop by if you have some time at the station, or just want to try and make some sushi yourself. The personell was very sweet and helpful :)
