The ropeway is comfortable and the scenery is great. It is a very convenient way to go to the top of Mount Shosha and down again. The bus to the ropeway station takes a while, but relax and be patient.

Well run with friendly staff the ropeway is a wonderful way to get up to Mt Shosha temple complex. A bus pass is available from the railway station to the ropeway and return. The system works well.

The ride itself is not too long, just about 5minutes or so. There is an attendant in the car that will explain some of the sights in Japanese on the way up. There is a decent view of Himeji city from one end of the car as it makes it way up/down the mountain, while the sides of the mountain... More

I bought the a combination ticket - return tickets for bus and ropeway aka cable car. The bus ride to the Mt Shosha Ropeway station takes about 30 minutes. The cable car ride is about five minutes or so. It's a short but scenic ride. It is probably the most unique ride I took during my Japan trip. =)

When i first heard the word ropeway i thought it was something dangerous turns out it's a cable car. The attendants are very polite and everything is in order even though i was the only one in line at that time.

He used to take this ropeway up the Mountain every day when filming the last Samurai. They have some interesting stories.

Enjoy the view. Also it was very rainy day and we forgot umbrellas: they have a stock of umbrellas and walking sticks you can use while walking.
