The Dorokyo Gorge Jet Boat jetty is at Shiko, about 16km NW of Shingu, and is accessible by public buses from Hongu and Shingu stations. Cost is 3,440 yen (US$30) for the 2-hour round-trip jet boat ride up to the rugged Dorokyo Gorge on the Kumano River. At some parts, the water is only inches deep. Interesting trip along the river, passing scenic natural rock formations, as well as small villages. Narration in Japanese only. There is a shop selling local produce and souvenirs at the Jet Boat Jetty, as well as a self-service restaurant.
