Great adventure for the kids, full of fascinating exhibits, hands-on activities, and excellent demonstrations. There are some explanations in English, and the exhibits are interesting even without written text, so even non-Japanese speaking visitors will find it worthwhile. The museum is surrounded by a lovely park. It is a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids, particularly elementary or middle school age.

Great for adults and children alike, the Tochigi Science Museum is filled with experiments, hands-on activities, and demonstrations. Although all of the exhibit information is in Japanese, our son always has a blast pushing buttons and watching the giant marble maze display. There is a children's area with a ball pit as well. While it's a great place to visit anytime, keep this spot in mind for rainy days and when the Winter cold makes it difficult to enjoy the outdoors.

I wanted to go there to see the exhibits. Was having issues with the Security guard when entering. Was trying to avoid the groups of groups of school children that were being allowed into the museum by the staff. Once in I was trying to get a map of the museum plans and not receiving a good customer response. Decided to leave instead since I had to walk 20 minutes from the train station.
