Managed to get in for a canyoning adventure last minute (with a family of four, two adults and two teen boys).
It was simply magnificent. Doing watersports on a typical hot summer day in Japan is highly recommended in general but this canyoning trip simple had it all. A great guide (shout out to 'Shaq' who was a wonderful host and did his absolute best to converse in English), lovely scenery and very thrilling jumps and slides.
Highly, HIGHLY recommended!

We had a wonderful experience provided by the Naoc team on a half-day shower climbing course. Our 9 yr and 6 yr old children loved climbing and sliding around a river with small water drops. It was a highlight of our trip to Nikko and Kinugawa Onsen. Safety is prioritized and we felt taken care of the entire way.

It was really the best experience. The guides are friendly and comical. This experience is suitable for families, team building for companies, friends and individual who wants to experience the beautiful scenaries. The excitement that NAOC provide is unable to describe in words. Whoever is interest must experience it yourself

Me and my wife enrolled in canyoning activity. This is our first time doing this. We had a wonderful time doing it. The guides (rocky-san & santosh) were very friendly and very helpful making us enjoying the activity. I would like to do it again if I go back to Japan. And of course I will recommend this activity to everyone

We really enjoyed the rafting trip. Where a little bit unsure wether the trip is worth the money and as European had quite the problem with navigating on the homepage and booking itself. Not so many English recommendations either.
The tour itself was really nice. Not really exhausting so I would recommend it for everybody with a good health. The guides speak a little bit English, enough to communicate and were really friendly and nice. Had a lot of fun!
After the tour we even got pictures for free and a voucher for an Onsen.
Thanks again for the tour and the Japanese lessons on board!

Went rafting with my 65 year old mother and a few friends and it was amazing! We are from the mountains of Colorado and have done quite a bit of rafting here and elsewhere around the world, the trip with NAOC was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. The landscape was incredible, so lush and green and beautiful. It was a pretty mellow river but fast and fun enough to really have a great time. My mom had a great time and was able to participate in everything.
The facilities were really really nice. Not the shack on the side of the river we’re used to at home! Really nice facilities with changing room, showers tons of space and time before you leave and when you come back. Top of the line brand new wet suits and helmets, the booties provided were great and everything was very clean and fresh.
The guides really made ge trip as well. Super nice and good English. Made the whole trip really fun and enjoyable but also felt 100% safe with them as our guides. Definitely experienced in rafting and very familiar with the river and area. They made the slower parts of the river fun with games and swimming and cliff jumping!
I’ve travelled all around japan and rafting with NAOC really was a high light. Beautiful place and awesome people! 10/10 would recommend, 5 star experience! Nature adventure outdoor club!!!

To start off the facilities that NAOC have are huge and have a very cute design, like a cabin. They provided all the rafting gear and it was all really high quality. Unfortunately it was a cold day when we went but we stayed really warm (almost hot) because of the quality of the wetsuit which was a real worry at the start of the day.
The rafting guides all put safety first which was a relief and they all seemed very experienced and in love with their job. The rafting was lots of fun even in the slow parts of the river because of the guides.
At one point we tied the raft to the side of the river and were allowed to jump off a 4m high rock into the water! It was scary but so much fun!
I definitely recommend these guys, they are really entertaining and funny, they all speak a little English and some of them are completely fluent so it's also great for western tourists!

We had so much fun rafting in Nikko!
We are international family with 3 children(15, 13, and 8 yrs).
Staff was bilingual and very friendly too!

How does one book this? I don't speak Japanese but would love to do rafting and or canyonning. All I can find is a phone number.

I don’t believe it’s a busy time of year but am personally inclined to make reservations anyway. I made reservations through a Japanese language website sotoasobi but for English you may have more luck emailing them directly at info (at) naoc-jp. They were a terrifically nice group of people and I think they’d do their best to help.
