A must visit to see Mt. Nantai. Cable car to Kegon falls subject to wind conditions. I think the service is interrupted by wind very often.

From the Nikko Station, it was about a 1 hour bus ride to this outstanding parking area that served as an observation deck high in the mountains. We were very fortunate that the foggy weather cleared enough for us to get some great photos of...More

Since we are from the Netherlands, and everything there is pretty flat, this is really amazing. The view of the falls and lake are so beautiful, it is like looking at a painting. Seeing the tiny cars, boats, it is so wonderful.

We went there on a foggy and rainy day and the management did put out a sign that said visibility is extremely low due to the fog. That's why we didn't get on the ropeway. And we appreciate how the Japanese make things transparent. But...More

Ride the Tobu Nikko bus heading for Chuzenji Lake and make the stop at Akechidaira. I was not lucky. Arrived here and it was empty because the fog was so thick and no one rides the ropeway..

It was a very clear day so the views from the observation plateau were stunning. We had a perfect view of Kegon waterfall and Lake Chuzenji. We waited about half an hour to get on the cable car, but it was worth the wait.
