When I lived in Yokohama I often visited this temple just to take pictures and learn more about the history of Zen Buddhism as practiced here by the Soto sect. I read books about Zen, a form of meditation. I never had the opportunity to talk directly with anyone who practiced this in their daily life but it was a very popular philosophy at least back in the '50s as Japan was just building back from the recent war.
