I would not say this is the best shopping venue in Yokohama but worth walking around as it is close to many hotels. The location is interesting as it is an old street, the street where the first gas lights and many other western amenities were first introduced in Japan. Unsurprisingly I've learnt that Bashamichi means Horse-drawn Carriage Street.

When shopping souvenirs and other needfull things is a must and you don't care too much about the price, this is awesome location. Specially if your accomondation is near as many of the hotels are.

Other great places to shopping are the near By shopping streets and China Town.

this is a great area to shop for souvenir's to take home. You will find an excellent variety of shops to peak your interest and it's a great place to just walk around and have a relaxing coffee.

This street is not brilliant for shopping. Go to one of the glittering malls or the Red Brick Warehouse for that. What it is good for is sightseeing beautiful grand old buildings of the Meiji era. Well preserved and atmospheric. This is one of the few places in Kanto to see this kind of architecture. There are several buildings in a range of style spread both along the road itself and within striking range. Yokohama used to have its own Bund, like Shanghai, which has largely disappeared due to the great Kanto Earthquake, the war and subsequent over development. However here you can still catch glimpses of a time when Yokohama was the centre of international trading and banking. Worth a wander when the urban chaos of Tokyo becomes a bit overwhelming.
