Yesterday we went to the Dockyard Garden and found the place very interesting, a combination of very old and modern architecture.
Towering above the old stone dock is the architectural wonder the Yokohama Landmark Tower.
Apparently the old dock was dismantled for the construction of the Tower and then painstakingly reconstructed, a great job was done .
Now when you walk down the steps into the dock you can look up at the tower which joins it , an awesome sight .
The dock which was known as No, 2 Dock was built in 1896 the oldest stone built commercial dock in Japan.
It belonged to the Yokohama Dock Company and ceased operation in 1973 so it sure would have seen some historic ships enter over that time .
It is marvellous that this dock has been incorporated into the new development so future generations can see what was there before their time, well done to all involved, a must place to visit when in Yokohama

This is a great area that shows what the past use of the dry dock used to be and one which has been kept to show and reflect the local maritime heritage. The lower area has a number of restaurants etc for one to go down into and above ground this is very near the Hard Rock Cafe.
Worth a look.

Interesting visit while touring Yokohama.
Not much to see during early spring but when the cherry blossoms are out you will see amazing trees all around. Also hidden on the walls of the dockyard are stores, restaurants/bars. There is a must see world beer museum if you are dying to try something new. Must enjoy with teens and peers.

This place is designed to replicate the dry dock across the street that is now home to the Nippon Maru. This one doesn't have water in it and you can see how the real one works. They show some movies in here during certain times of the year, too. Seems popular. Some cool restaurants down here, too. Once you get into the bottom, you see the entry ways to the restaurants.

This is a dockyard. Plain and simple. This ain't no garden.
The dockyard is empty and does not contain water anymore.
Still, it makes for an interesting 5-minutes visit.

It has number of restaurants in different style of food and cuisine but majority are Japanese. It's linked with Landmark Plaza so the varieties are more. It's good to try for change.
