Mt Fuji, Hakone, Lake Ashi Cruise and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo

4,629 reviews
Navigating Japan’s public transport system can often be a daunting task. Let a guide do the work for you on this tour of Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi by coach and bullet train, which saves you hours in travel time. Ascend to the Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station; ride on the Komagatake Ropeway, one of Japan’s highest aerial tramways; and take a cruise on Lake Ashi, part of Hakone National Park.

This is a wonderful group of contemporary buildings that offers a creative space for visitors to try their hand at crafting their own jewelry, pottery and glassware etc It is also a great area to view finished products for purchase. The craft house is located in a lovely woodland setting within Gora park . One would be tempted to try pottery or creating a glass product if you were staying in the area for a longer duration. Better to purchase a finish product that you can take with you.

It was fun but the only thing that wasn't great was that you couldn't glaze your ceramic piece yourself and they'd mail it to a Japanese address within 2 months. Obviously most tourists won't be around that long. I know they needed to fire my bowl and glaze it and re-fire it so I get that part. What I didn't get was that my glass wasn't able to be taken home that day either. It would also be mailed within 2 months to a domestic address. My piece got broken when my friend brought it to me the next time she was in America. I suggest finding some things that you can take with you if you're a tourist but if you're a local in Japan, this is AWESOME and the prices are reasonable. There is also a really nice onsen nearby to visit after. They might have changed their policies by now.

Price: As of April 2019, price for making a drinking glass was around $40, and to ship it to US around $100. Note: glass is NOT dishwasher or even hot tea safe.

Our four children ages 9, 13, 15 and 16, each enjoyed an experience in the Craft House. It is very organised and whilst there is not a lot of English spoken, they are very accommodating. We enjoyed the opportunity to do activities that we may not otherwise do and look forward to receiving the items in the post in the future.
