Very touristic. Modern boats built with some romantic glimpse at European sailing ships. For me it was a way to get from the rope way to the village. It did not cost me anything as the Hakone pass was valid at the boats.

hubby didn't want to do this bc seems so touristy . that it is, but it also a very easy & pretty way to cross the lake (much better than car sickness on the bus or train). the views are lovely & you get to...More

It was a lovely sunny morning, perfect for a cruise around Lake Ashi. Even better it is included in the pride of the Hakone free pass. We just went one way. The cruise was smooth and quiet. Staff were helpful and food and drinks were...More

With a number of choices by the lake, we opted to take the cruise to the other end of the lake and cable car and train home. Easy easy.

fun for the family, they only start every 40 mins so plan accordingly. The view was beautiful, it gets foggy halfway through the trip but we enjoyed it anyways

Worth the trip across the lake, for the scenery and the fun of the boat. On a hot day, we had a lovely breeze on the water. Make sure you have the Hakone Free Pass to travel on this, and many other things

The pirate cruise was on the tour itinerary and I thought it was going to be hokey. I have to admit, it was very enjoyable. The cruise was free due to our Hakone passes but we decided to upgrade to 1st class, $4, that allowed...More

I bought the first class ticket. As informed, the difference is that I got the chance to view at the front deck compared to the normal ticket. This can be purchased with about 400 yen TOP up with Hakone freepass. Good thing is that you...More

We spent some time sailing on the lake and we enjoyed the couple of hours looking around the area. It's great for kids and people who like fake pirate ships.

Very colourful ship and the distance is just nice about 20 min. We enjoyed the ship ride. You can buy day pass and take the ship ride unlimited to another route.

I have only been to Motohakone - a good selection of shops and a great restaurant/cafe that overlooks the lake. The boat usually stops at both - so you can do both if you have the time.
