First Rate view on Mount Fuji!
Hakone is not necessarily an action-filled place, but rather a location people go to rest and find some inner peace close to bustling Tokyo. One way to enjoy nature and even catch a glimpse of majestic Fuji is lake Ashi. We took a boat trip and enjoyed the casual trip. Of course it's touristic, but tourist go to places such as this for a reason - nature is stunning there, so nothing bad about it in my opinion. Also a great alternative for the cable car, should it be closed due to the strong winds, like the day we went.

Autumn escape
A beautiful lake in surrounding scenery! The sun shone, we had great views along with some of the local produce in a lakeside cafe.

Beautiful
Must visit late in Hakone/ Odawara. Set in a peaceful area of Japan, surrounded by local eatery and ice-cream parlors.

Beautiful lake
As part of our tour, after Mount Fuji there was a boat trip across Lake Ashi to get to the rope way (cable car). Beautiful peaceful lake surrounded by mountains and a chance to get a different view of the great Mount Fuji. Definitely worth a trip.

Peaceful Lake Ashi
We took a lake tour boat trip which had a good view of Mt. Fuji at the beginning of the journey. The whole journey was peaceful and quiet, nice way to relax and savour the scenery.

Would be even better with nice clear weather
Part of the Hakone loop, a cruise on a "Pirate Ship" is a must and even on a miserable late winters day was still very busy. The cruise goes from Togendai Port to Hakone Machi and ultimately Moto Hakone before returning to Togendai for the chairlift. There is enough time for lunch at Moto Hakone. We missed seeing Mt Fuji on a heavily overcast day but still enjoyed the scenery and a few Tori Gates on the shore.

Beautiful scenery viewed from cruise boat
I only took the 15 minute Hakone Kojiri terminal to Hakone Ropeway pier but the scenery is stunning and the well maintained cruise boats give you a superb viewing platform. Inside and outside viewing areas on the cruise boats very good with restrooms on board. Worth a trip out from Tokyo for the scenery.

Slow cruise in the morning
Part of the loop in Hakone and this is the second phase after travelling across land, cable car from Gora to Tojendai point. It was a cold/cool morning around 11am. The whole cruise was around 30min and it was to have good to 360 view from the 'pirate ship" that we sailed on. The only negative was that it was a cloudy day and we missed seeing Mt Fuji along the loop. We need to cross the lake to continue our journey....to Motohakone!

On the tourist trail
We went on an afternoon Winter ride. The queue fills up quickly esp if there are buses. Then the seats on the boat full as well, and the deck can be chilly.
The boat is kitch with a small stand thSt sells drinks and snacks (cash only, tax extra on items that do include tasty crackers and beer). The toilet was clean with the only (small) trash spot on the whole boat there. One of the boats has cute picture taking spots inside with pirates, for the kids. Scenery nice but not spectacular. Some riders didn’t even lift their heads from their phones! If you. Take the last boat back don’t dilly-dally as you’ve only 15 min to get on the last rope way (easy unless you have to do a potty break with little ones)

Stunning view
Second time to visit, both in January but not so cold this time, plus the clear sky gave us a perfect view of the mountain Fiji. Nice chill place to spend a day, many cafes and restaurant nearby.
