We arrived and were greeted by a female staff member. Noting we spoke English she escorted us into a movie theatre with three different movies about the area and history. Three of my grand children were able to work like a glass blower and actually make cups which they brought home. The other two kids made jewelry. We spent well over an hour here as the kids enjoyed the activities

We had a beautiful drive up to the Hakone Visitor Center. Unfortunately the day we took the drive, the rain came in and was really fierce. This is the official national Park visitor centre, and it has a large relief model of the area in the middle of a light an airy exhibition hall. There's some information on local wildlife, although most of the information is only in Japanese. It has convenient free parking, and is adjacent to the trail connecting the sulphurous area at Owakaduni... More

Definitely helpful staff, ask the staff how to use the transportation schedule booklet will get you around Hakone easily.
