Just spent 3 of the most wonderful days with Kamikawa Katsumi from Narita Rainbow Tours. Kats was the absolutely best Tour Guide we have ever had. Extremely knowledgeable accommodating He made us feel like we were s special.
We went to Mt Fuji, Tokyo, and tour of Narita. Everyday was exciting and interesting.
He provided lots of interesting information never a dull time traveling talked about the Japanese Culture importance of the Temples shrines and so much more.
His English is impeccable.
If ever in Japan Narita Area only ask for Kamikawa Katsumi if you want your stay to be the most memorable time in Japan.

Mr. Katsumi was available with 2 days to take us (4 adults) to show us the Buddhist temple, rice farming, and country side on Narita. Shared the knowledge of the village. On the 2nd day he took us to Tokyo. He was so king to bring us a wheelchair for my mom who had difficulty walking. Mr. Katsumi also did his research to take us to a noddle place that swrv3d vegan and gluten-free soup to accommodate some of us in our party.
Best guide with amazing knowledge, and outstanding customer service.

I had a wonderful tour in Narita with Rainbow Tours. Katsumi Kamikawa was waiting for me at the airport and shared his knowledge and expertise with me for five hours. He was delightful and very knowledgable. A bonus was that he had been a student at UCLA, my alma mater.
I highly recommend this tour, especially if you have a long layover at Narita Airport.

I enjoyed this excellent 4-5 hour tour of the charming town of Narita in between flights. Narita has an interesting history, being on the old travel route from Tokyo, and has a large Buddhist temple that’s renowned in Japan. Also provides a good picture of what Japan outside the big cities is like. Katsumi’s guiding was excellent. He provided lots of interesting information and answered well every question I asked. His English is very good. Easy pick up and drop off at airport. Excellent value too (he should probably raise his prices).

A friend and I recently had an 8 hour layover at Narita between long flights. On a whim, we contacted Katsumi on Saturday afternoon before our Sunday morning arrival. Within 2 hours, our tour was confirmed. When we landed, I received an email from Katsumi saying that he was watching our flight info, and knew that we had arrived early, and if we wanted to begin the trip early, he would be happy to do so.
He picked us up in a clean, comfortable minivan (very comfortable for two Americans over 6'-3") and we were off. I normally avoid organized tours, but this could not have been better. A former resident of Los Angeles, his english was better than some lifelong Americans that I know. He offered the perfect mix of being informative and friendly without being boring or pushy. There is a bit of walking involved, but nothing strenuous. We happened to arrive on the hottest day of the year, and Katsumi was even kind enough to walk back for the car once it was time to go while we waited in an air conditioned area for him to come retrieve us. He understands that you have a flight to catch, and will make sure that you arrive back at Narita with time to spare. Customs there is very efficient. With no checked bags, we were in his car within 15-20 minutes of disembarking the plane. Takes cash (Yen) only, but there are ATMs right at the arrival terminal where you walk through anyway. Get extra, because you will want to tip!

First I can say that narita tours was very responsive to my emails, gave me exact information and prices and always responded quickly. But here's what happened. - they came to pick us up at the hotel- they were waiting for us in the lobby and were early. We had booked a PRIVATE tour. When we board the bus there was another woman joining us- they asked if that was OK but at this point I did not feel I had a choice. After just arriving hours before at the hotel from a very long flight from the U.S. I probably was not quite on my game. Anyway the woman was quite annoying and really took time away from our experience as she never stopped talking until the end when she fell asleep really not what we signed up for - private means private. They found someone else and this just put more $$$ in their pockets. Also I found out from the woman she was paying substantially less then we were quoted. I was to exhausted to debate this and our tour guide was a nice man. We did the full day tour - well there is not enough to do in narita for a full day tour. Going to the grocery store to look at food was not what I expected. After a good night sleep I thought about my tour and realized it was very disappointing and not very professional. Saying that the tour guy and his helper that we dropped off at the train station during our tour were nice but overall would not recommend

Rather than spend a long layover inside the airport we booked a 4/5 hour tour of the Narita area with Narita Rainbow Tours. Booking on line was easy, as was exiting the airport through customs and immigration. Katsumi met us right on time and we immediately began a lovely tour of the surrounding area. The hours sped by quickly as we enjoyed various cultural sights. Katsumi was a charming guide. He speaks excellent English and has a delightful sense of humor. We would highly recommend this tour and Katsumi to anyone who would like a little taste of Japan.

We had less than 24 hours in Japan as we were in transit. Arrived Narita late evening, quick meal then off to bed as an early 0500 hours collection was in place with our tour guide, Katsumi. What a great guy. First stop the often overlooked experience of a fish market. Not just any fish market though, one at which you can get up close to and watch the buyers picking at and tasting the tuna prior to a whirlwind auction - and all done by 05:30!
And then off for a coffee, still in darkness, before heading off to the only Buddhist Temple in Japan that has a daily 0600 service. This really is a humbling experience and we felt privileged to be part of it, despite it being very cold whilst sat cross legged on the floor. One not to miss.
Katsumi then led us around the many parts of this Temple and complex, much of which is only accessible to visitors before 0800, and his knowledge is deep and no question asked came back unanswered - his English is very good too!
All in all, despite our visit to Japan being brief, compared to our previous 3 weeks in NZ, this stopover was a definite highlight and Katsumi is highly recommended by us.

Katsumi picked us up right on time at 5 am. I know, that sounds crazy early, but if you are coming from the U.S., Canada, etc, trust me, you'll have been awake for hours. It was a great way to see the fish market, and the fascinating tuna auction. We also got to enjoy an early morning ceremony at a Buddhist Temple as well as the Temple grounds. It was fantastic to be able to see so much so early in the morning. Katsumi was knowledgeable and very pleasant. I highly recommend this tour if you have a layover. It is great to feel like I got a taste of the culture, even if I was in Japan only overnight.

We had a 7 1/2 hour layover at Narita airport, and decided to take a tour. There are free tours offered at Narita, but they are FCFS, and I didn't want to risk being stuck at the airport. So, I booked with Narita Rainbow Tours in order to maximize our time, and to have a place to keep our loaded carry on items instead of on our backs. What a disappointing experience. We were met quickly at the airport, but waited for at least 30 minutes for another person, who ultimately didn't join the tour. Our tour started out just fine, but suddenly, our guide left us with his "trainee" with no explanation. We were told to take our bags from the van, and pay him before he left us, and that we'd be in good hands with his trainee. We ended up having to walk quite a distance to the train station, and were initially expected to pay for our train tickets back to the airport. Then, we found out we were on our own on the train - the trainee was not riding the train with us. We found one of the volunteer guides who was taking another group back to the airport, and they were happy to have us follow along so we didn't get lost. For the amount of money I paid for this tour, I was so very disappointed. If I have another layover in Narita, I'd go with the volunteer tour......

What tours (not day tours) are possible from (Narita) Tokyo between 2nd and 5th May 2019?
Having looked on websites, this period appears to be out due to National Holidays.
Written March 20, 2019
what do you mean by (not day tours)? You are just looking for night tours? if so probably better to stay in Tokyo, not Narita.
We provide day tours on any given day, regardless of national holidays. Send us an inquiry mail for further discussion of possible tours.

Does this tour pick you up at your hotel? Thank you.
Written October 12, 2018
We were picked up at the airport but as accommodating as they were I see no reason they wouldn't pick you up from your hotel. However, the tour we did was in the area near the airport which I understand is quite a distance from Tokyo if that is where you are staying. The company was very responsive to emails so it can't hurt to ask. Sorry I can't give you a more specific answer.
Written October 13, 2018
May I ask can you select the time of your tour? How many hours is the tour? Was it worth the cost? Thank you for your time. Do they take you where they think are the highlights of Tokyo?
Written October 12, 2018
Basically all of our tours to Tokyo is customised to the party.
We will spend total of 8 hours. Just send us an email enquiry. we will answer your questions in detail. Katsumi

Hello. My daughter of 10 years old and I are looking for advice on things to do in Narita for pur 19 hrs layover. The thing is, we arrive at 3:30 pm in Narita and leave at 11:10 am the next day from Narita.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Written May 11, 2018
You may want to contact Narita Rainbow tours to see what they can set up for you. I'm not sure what time things begin to close down in Narita. In any event, 19 hours is a long time, and I think you have time to do a short tour, and check in to a hotel for some hours. Have fun!
