Nice beach

There is a light house and a science museum close by. Parking lot is free. The beach is nice. We visited both Cape Soya and Cape Noshappu.

One can board bus ノシャツブ公園 from wakkanai bus station just outside the JR Wakkanai station. Just several stops from the station, we encountered a very nice bus captain who told us; if we were to venture to the left, we might see the pack of deer. Aquarium and most of the eatery close during winter(dec onwards). For those who loves... More

It is really a SHOW for the sunset @ cape Noshappu. Beside tourists including myself and many of the locals also come to see the dramatically sunset view in the evening. Frankly, it is stunning! As good as the sunset view that i have seen @ the Nusamai Bridge, Kushiro. Therefore, this place are quite crowded and everyone was busy... More

I was here last January, for few minutes. The wind was very strong, the snow was piling everywhere... The scenery is very nice, but no more in winter. A must see, anyhow

A few attractions in that area. 1) Light house 2) Aquarium 3) Cape: One of the great place to see Sunset in Wakkanai. You can see mount Rishiri from here on a clear day.

Actually it is a cape like many others, but being the most northern was the reason to pay a visit. A car is handy as public transport does not run often. A lot of Japanese come to visit, so that is part of the fun.

The Cape Noshappu is about 10km from the city centre. The place is especially good when you visit during sunset time where you may able to see beautiful sunset if the cloud is not blocking it. Besides, you can also see the Sakhalin Island of Russia across the sea.

I hired a bike from a coffee shop in central Wakkanai. The statue is OK, but I didn't have time to stop and see the sunset unfortunately as had to catch a train. It was very, very windy out there on the peninsula, certainly blows the cobwebs away!

Lots of tourists at the time of sunset - a true demonstration of the creation. One of the Best sunset I have seen. This is close to the aquarium and the youth science museum as well so you can group the activities together.

Due to the harsh weather -5(feels like), no one was there when we arrived at 10am. Even the shops are not open as there are hardly anyone around(neither are there locals). There is a dolphin like sculpture and you can see some ferries mooring at a nearby port which is meant for the outline islands. Worth coming only once.
