We weren't aware of this until we passed by. Lots of visitors, especially young girls bring their selfsticks or selfstands and take pictures non-stop. We did too. Top spot for Instagram. The Japanese really cherish their railway heritage.
I just didn't get this. An old disused train line, overgrown with grass, surrounded by old decrepit buildings, residential unit blocks, and a broken concrete walking path. This is a tourist attraction? I couldn't understand the number of people taking selfies with this so-called attraction...

We happened to walk by this spot on the way to Sakaimachi Street. Good spot for taking some nice shots. The rail track is still in good shaped with a nice signpost next to it. Recommended for a photo shot.
A railway that now become a good photo spot. Its located a long the way when you go down straight from the Otaru Station. For some people who like to post, this place can be a good place to take photo.
On a nice day, this might have been a good walk. However, it was cold and windy, so we didn't go but a few yards on the path. I think it would have been an interesting, easy walk to follow the tracks for a ways...More
