Caught bus from centre out to Mt Tengu cable car. Cheap fare takes you to the summit. Various activities are advertised at the top, chipmunk enclosure, dry toboggan slide and wooded walk. Walk is only short but the views are spectacular and that is why it is worth a visit. Watch out for the enormous ants on the walk, they... More

Enjoyed amazing views from Mt. Tengu, this is a must see when you visit. There is also a little shrine and the Tengu goblin, to bring good luck. The views from the top are the main reason to visit here, as well as the little ride along the ropeway. If you travel here by cruise ship (as we did) you... More

Beautiful and peaceful. Friendly people. A must see view of all of Otaku from high on the mountain. We took the team up and down. For an extra thrill, you can go further up and ride a sled down.

It was a nice ride up to Mt Tengu on the cable car, not too crowded. Nice path round the park at the top with interesting points of interest.

We caught the bus from Otaru train station. There is a bus depot just a stone throw away. Ask for a return ticket. The bus ride is about 20-25 minutes depending on the traffic. It takes you to the entrance of Mt Tengu. At the entrance you will need to purchase tickets for the cable car. It is quite pricey... More

Given the good reviews from trip advisors, it is a conveniently attraction close to town. We drove up to the gondola station after dinner to check out the highly rated night view. The ride is a little bit expensive given we are just going up for a view and nothing more. The view and the gondola is actually quite nice... More

This place is really easy to get to. Outside the train station there is a bus that takes you up to the ropeway car to take U up to the top. In the evening when the sun start to set, you can easily captured good view of the skiing slope and the view of the city as it starts to... More

My fiancé and I took the cable car up Mt. Tengu and the view was great. It was very cold with plenty of snow. The little cafe at the top does fantastic cocoa (hot chocolate), which is great to warm you up after you've been outside taking photos.

I use the Otaru Tenguyama bus passed (1480yen during this season) to travel which include 1day bus pass (750), Tenguyama roundtrip ropeway (1140) and ticket to redeem a free ema (500) at ropeway station. You can come here during daytime for Skiing, for city view during night. Although this mountain is not high, the temperature during February may drop to... More

Nie view of Otaru from above. Accessible from JR Otaru station. Restaurant is not that expensive though. Nice to just sit there and drink coffee and look at Otaru from above.
