Tenguyama has one of the best night scape of Otaru, even in the midst of a snowy season. The car park in front is free of charge. Although Mt Tengu is predominantly for skiing during winter, it is still worth going up via the gondola. The gondola operates every 15 minutes, and shows the perfect view of the ski track... More

We went to Mt. Tengu during winter and the view is spectacular. Took some great shots and played snows like a little child.

We caught the bus up to Tenguyama and then rode the ropeway up to the top of the mountain (purchase bus and ropeway tickets plus complimentary drink in the restaurant at the Chuo bus station in front of the JR train station) where you can watch skiers and snowboarders coming down the hill. There is a school at the base... More

It is a very pretty place. Recommended timing to go should be around sunset. There are mountains by the side and when the sun sets, the whole of Sapporo lights up. This place is very accessible by cable car and requires no walking. However, it is quite crowded with tourists.

I came here late at night around 9pm and it was freezing cold because of the weather. We paid to take the cable car to go up to the peak which is about 10mins. You can view the Ski Resort just below it as well. At the top is a restaurant where you can order food or it's amazing Hokkaido... More

The ropeway is shared with ski sports enthusiasts, it was sweet to see the young children carrying their equipment! Nice restaurant at the top with binoculars supplied. Stunning view from the rooftop. Chipmunk feeding is limited to summer.

We took a taxi from Otaru station to the cable car station. Apparently there was also a bus stop which does the job. The cablecar ride to Mr Tengu lookout is about 8min so it is not very high. From the lookout one can see a panoramic outline of Otaru and the cafe at the lookout provides binoculars to spot... More

We took bus from the Otaru Bus Terminal next to the JR Otaru Station to the cable station, and rode up the mountain. The cable car operates at about 20mins interval. The journey took less than 30mins as Otaru is quite small. On the top of the mountain, there is a restaurant facing down the mountain with beautiful scene while... More

The view on the top of Mount tengu was mesmerizing. There were props for one to take photos, the usual thing one can see in japan! There was a small playground for kids too. There was this structure of a head with elongated nose. People said that it's lucky to rub on the nose of this thing:)

We decided to WALK from the town to the ropeway, without using the bus just to get a view of the community around. It took us about 1.5 hours to walk from music box museum. There were hardly any people when we reached there (around 5pm). View on top was very spectacular and windy. The staff was friendly. It was... More
