Beautiful walk along the canal and seaside.

Not to missed out the beautiful blue sky and seasides here. A great place for you if you're into a leisure trip and for a peace of mind. :-)

The canal is just a normal canal but the surrounding area is nice for a stroll as it looked like a quaint village with souvenir shops, musical box museum etc. The best ice cream cost 500 yen (shown in my pictures). It is highly recommended and a must try ice cream as it is very creamy (only available in Otaru).... More

A Romantic place to stroll along the canal if it is covered with heavy white snow. There are many souvenir shops nearby and must try the steamed sweet potato, its delicious!

I lived in Otaru for 3 years and the canal is the best part of the city to walk and think about life or in my case about my master dissertation, It is nice on summer and spring and even better on the winter with the snow and ice around the buildings. quite impresive view.

A lovely walk down the postcard-perfect canal is required if you're in Otaru. Take many photos, enjoy the sunset and night view.

Best tourist spot in Otaru. Need to stroll along the canal. It also is parallel with shopping street. You can also take a boat along the canal (i won't recommend) or take a man-pulled cart(rickshaw).

The canal is divided by two parts. First part has less people, the second part has many tourist and stalls that sell paintings and photograph.

People were out and about, the setting was cute and I had a pleasant walk, however it will not entertain ambitious travellers for long.

Yes, it's a Canal... only a Canal... You can't miss it when your in Otaru so it doesn't really matter if the rating is a 1 or a 5... it's a Canal.. just don't expect close to Venice standards.
