This is a nice looking old building built in 1896. It housed what was at the time a high tech business, making clocks. The building has a pair of mythical carp on the roof attached to the tiles which was unusual for the time. It now houses a shop selling tourist items.

It's amazing how many historical buildings has been preserved right here in Otaru. And each one has a very long history behind it.
Its always very interesting to learn about such historical landmarks, something you never knew existed until you seen it.

The former Iwanaga Clock Store does not sell clocks now but Its a beautiful old building that USED TO sells clocks
