函館珍百景。かつて地元の信心深い人が私費で造りました。あまりにユニークな外観に一度見たら忘れません。湯の川からトラピスチヌへ分かれる交差点のすぐ左手、木立の中にあります。だからどーしたはありません。ただただ印象深い。

斎藤キワさんが達磨大師に帰依し奈良の達磨寺と同じような像をつくりたいと懇願して自宅敷地内に達磨大師を自刻したのが始まりとのことです。ひょうきんな達磨の顔をした座禅をしている坐像です。不動明王像と斎藤キワさんの像もある達磨の不思議な空間です。

トラピスチヌ修道院の見学の後、坂を下った交差点近くに入り口があり、46の階段を登ると達磨大使像がありました 見上げるほど大きい達磨さんでした

思ったよりインパクトがある達磨大師像があります。二股分かれる交差点の階段を上がるとそこには達磨大師がでんと構えています。トラピスチヌ修道院の近くで、歩いて十分行けます。

函館の代表的な観光地の一つであるトラビスチヌ修道院の入口分岐付近にさりげなく看板が立っていたのでフラッと立ち寄ってみました。結構急な石段を登りますので、トラピスチヌ修道院に向かう際の登り坂前でちょっとテンションが下がりましたが、登ってみてビックリ、微笑ましくもあり、勇ましくもありという赤い達磨大師様の立派なお姿を拝見できて、とても有り難い気持ちになりました。地元の有志の方が造られたそうで、奥ゆかしい感じで付近の森の中で静かに佇んでいる姿がとても清々しくて良かったです。トラピスチヌ修道院に行かれる際は、是非こちらにも立ち寄ってみて下さい。

トラピスチヌ修道院入り口の交差点にあります。
地元の斎藤さんというおばあさんが達磨大師を信仰して自分で思い立って作った物だそうです。
よく珍風景みたいなＢ級スポットを紹介するブログとかで紹介されています。
造形は素朴というよりは滑稽ですが、こうしていろいろな人を引きつける力がある不思議な像だなと思いました。
一般の観光客がわざわざ見に行くものではありませんが、変わった物が好きな人はどうぞ。
