Went on a Sunday night to check it out and the place was packed, didn't eat then. Returned the next night, Monday, and it was very quiet so we had a chance to try a couple of places. We were pleasantly surprised at the tempura place. There was only Japanese writing out front (no pictures) so we had to ask for a menu to know what they offered. Very modern set up inside, well presented, waiters all wearing same professional uniforms and the tempura/cold soba set was wonderful. What they claimed was a small tempura dish was really filling for one, our fave was the corn tempura. Best of all was the really icy cold beer and even without much banter with staff, we were presented with momentos, postcards, which was a really nice touch.

We love these sort of small eateries and bars. Situated very near the station on one of the side streets in a space between buildings. Have fun, take a risk and talk to locals.

A motley collection of mainly simple eats such as ramen, lamb yakitori, yakitori, small bars, seafood, etc house in typically small outlets. If want to have more comprehensive meals, checkout the restaurants outside but more expensive.

We found this small restaurant that seats only 16 persons. We had excellent crab shabu-shabu and went back again the next night to try their other dishes. The best crab fried rice I've ever tasted! The only downside to this restaurant is you have to order a drink and pay for the appetizer which we thought was free.

A friend and I stumbled upon Damon Yokocho while exploring, and knew we had to eat there. After a couple laps around, we picked a 8-seater place on the end, and it was absolutely delectable. We shared 7 little plates, including pork, noodles, shrimp, and spring rolls. The chef was originally from Burma which influenced the food style and flavors, making it a meal to remember.
