We stopped here as part of a walking tour through the conservation section of the city. It's a small Catholic church that has small versions of everything you'd expect from a Catholic church. It takes no more than about 5 minutes to walk around. We...More

If you have been to many old Catholic churches, this church is not particularly unique. However, it is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Japan outside of those in the Nagasaki area. The original building was built in 1877 and the current building in...More

This church in Motomachi is in such a beautiful, serene location. Be sure to see it if you are exploring the area. All churches ask that you remove your shoes before entering and this one does not allow interior photography. There is no admission charge.

As you're walking around the area, the ropeway, the hilly-streets, finding a place to overlook the harbour, this church pops up, with its steeple and cross. Very impeccable, and grounds well kept, and inviting. Worth a visit if you're in the area, won't take a...More

My visit was a brief one during a weekday so I do not know if there's any Sat vigil mass. There should be sunday masses but probably in Japanese.
