Supposedly the place that appeared in many films and photos. Rather bare during winter. The slope is part of the traffic system so be careful when taking photos as the same slope is shared by vehicular traffic!

It was quite a short walk from the warehouse. I went because it was ranked the best and most picturesquely famous slope. Indeed it is. There wasn’t much traffic and we could take our time to snap as many shots as we wanted, posing right on the road divider. It has a calm and peaceful atmosphere and had been used as a filming location. Looking down from the slope, we saw Hakodate Bay. We truly enjoyed the open view as if we were looking straight to the sea.

Nothing extravagance. Just roll of houses, hotel and cafe. Trees lined on both side of the street. It is picturesque during winter I supposed.

Lovely part of town with some unique homes, lots of churches & monuments with beautiful views of town. Lots of happy children running past us & practicing their English with giggles & those taking photographs of the city below.

Strangely there are very few cars on the road in Japan. Thus we can take the picture of the slope without vehicles very easily. We walked from Horai Cho station after having lunch at Asari Honten. Along the way, there were interesting buildings and statues. The Motomachi area has several historical buildings and quaint little cafes. It’s a nice walk with many Instagramable opportunities.
