Beautiful slope

Hachimanzaka is a beautiful slope, and many Japanese movies were shot in this spot. It is, of course, free to walk on this slope. So, why don't you go to take a look?

When we came to Hachiman-zaka while exploring the Motomachi area, I wondered why it warranted a star on the tourist map. Only one other of the myriad slopes got this designation. And the Motomachi Catholic Church with its magnificent altar and beautifully carved Stations of the Cross got none. I thought the view of the port was lovely from the... More

There were numerous sloping streets in Motomachi area with quaint, charming buidlings lining the streets. Totally picture worthy.

My 1st Self-drive (F&E) tour. My 1st visit to Japan. Seriously, it just a road with slope…nothing special. We drove there and stay for around 5-10 mins and we left the place. Personally, I do not think you need to spend a lot of time for a slope.

Visited 8 May 2016. I don't get the hype over the slope. I know it's famous for being featured in television shows, but it looks like a normal slope to me. Yes, it's pretty, but that's all to it. With that said, if you're walking around the motomachi area, it's pretty convenient to find and see what it's about. I... More

We decided to skip the slope area during the day, and after visiting Mt Hakodate for the night view, we walked past the churches of Motomachi towards the Hachimanzaka slope, where all the trees were lit up with fairy lights. It was quite a lovely (and quiet) stroll in the evening. Do note that if you go during winter, some... More

The views are ok but not that great. But if you are in Hakodate, no reasons not to visit the place especially near to Mount Hakodate and Motomachi area anyway. Night view during winter looks better with all the lights on. This place great for visit during winter and spring.
