just pay an admission ticket and you can see the cranes playing dancing singing and flying in/out. you can also walk to the next door akan crane centre to see a mini exhibition. opening hours are from 830am to 430pm. there is a small eatery where you can sip into pipping hot ramen soba and curry rice.

An Amazing Comeback
Jul 2019
Our guide here told us that in the early 1900's there were only around a dozen of the giant birds that were still living. Now, after conservation tactics, the number of cranes has climbed to over 1400. The refuge allows one to get up close to the cranes and realize just how tall they are. A guided tour helps to understand more about the everyday habits of these birds. One of the most interesting points was that you can only tell the males from the females by the sounds (calls) that they make. Also the male cranes red coloring on his crown gets substantially larger when he is angry. It was a fun visit.

A small museum and gift shop with a large outside exhibit of cranes in breeding enclosures. Walk along the walkway and look for portals in fence for unobstructed pictures.

Not much better than a small private zoo.
Apr 2018 • Couples
This place was a HUGE disappointment. We were part of a tour group and when we arrived we were all excited to see where cranes live and/or flock to and we were hoping to be lucky and see a wild crane or two.. We expected a natural area where we could observe. However, the cranes we saw were behind cages and displayed as if it was a zoo. It was as if we stumbled upon a private zoo that had purchased a few cranes and put them on display. (and to add insult to injury, the visitors center was sparse with an anemic giftshop).
