I found Saikotei while exploring nearby temples and first saw the lovely lawn and then the house. I was not sure if this was an attraction open to visitors, but sure enough it is! There is a small entrance fee but well worth it. You are free to explore the site, there is an upstairs as well. The highlight for me was the large hall full of tatami mats, it was absolutely beautiful. It was nice to walk around and see what a traditional house of this size looks like. The staff was helpful, there is an English brochure about the house. I would say, this site is well worth a visit, the grounds are just lovely.

This house moved from original site is historical house for western foods (mainly for leaders in Japan), where there are many real signatures by political leaders (from the Meiji to present ages).

In 1877, the cook of the king opened the shop.
The shop is called "saika-tei".
1877 is a milestone year for Japan to slide into modernization.
Many politicians have a visit to this shop.
It is a very famous politician.
It is possible to see the letter written by them in the premises.

This restaurant is not open now.
However, you can tour the interior.
Wonderful garden.
In very cheap entrance fee, you can see the great Japanese architecture.

It is a historical restaurant in Yamaguchi, where many politicians gathered while drinking. Actually it was rather an event hall than a restaurant, and so their main dining room are huge. Since it was moved from its old site, it is apparently quite new. The entrance is just $1, which is scrupulous. And if you wish, the stuff guides you for free. I asked the guidance, and it was quite helpful to understand their history. The calligraphies of their famous patrons, including that of PM Abe and that of his grandfather, are must-sees.
