後醍醐天皇が隠岐に配流される際に付き添って来た皇女瓊子内親王が開設した所です。また若くして亡くなった墓所も宮内庁所管として有りました。令和となって新天皇への盛り上がりを少し分けて欲しい様な少し朽ちている感じがしました。

後醍醐天皇の皇女・瓊子内親王が開創し、亡くなった場所でもある。鎌倉幕府の討幕運動が露見した天皇は隠岐島へ配流されることになったが、島に向かう一行には内親王も潜んでいた。ところが、この地に立ち寄った際に内親王の存在が発覚。結局、内親王はこの地にとどまって天皇の帰りを待つことにしたが、その後に世をはかなんで出家。天皇が討幕を果たしたのちもこの地に住み続けて２４歳の若さで亡くなった。米子市周辺には後醍醐天皇の英雄譚と言えるような伝説や地名があるが、このお寺もその一つだ。

近くに友人の家があるので、近辺を散歩することになり、連れて行ってもらいました。とても趣があるお寺で、歴史を感じました。緑も豊富なので、子供と一緒に散歩するときはなかなかの穴場だと思います。

安養寺橋を良く通るのですが、寺が近くにあると思い、探していきました。南北朝時代、後醍醐天皇、隠岐とキーワードがあったり、歯型栗の話がありましたが、私にはあまりよくわかりませんでした・・
