Wide space, modern atmosphere

Together with a friend I visited Matsue castle and afterwards we went to this small shrine.
It is a shrine to the honour of the war dead.
The building itself is really impressive, because it is surrounded by a wide empty place and looks really modern. The O-Mamori (lucky charms), which you can get there, are completely black. It is the first time, that I saw such kind of O-Mamori.
There are some nice statues of mothers with children around the shrine grounds. I also noticed, that it is easy to access for wheelchairs. All stairs are covered with planks to make it accessible for wheelchairs and bicycles.

Gokoku Shrine

On our way to Buke-Yashiki we have passed two beautiful shrines and the first one was the Gokoku Shrine. When you pass the Torii, you find your self on a wide space and in front of you is the shrine it self. A really nice combination of the empty space and the nature in the background of it.
