岡山市内の路面電車終点東山で降りたら、徒歩７～８分といったところです。ただ結構きつい石段を登りますよ。もともとは玉井宮と東照宮は別々の神社だったそうです。安産にご利益が有ります。

10月下旬のお祭りのときに参拝した。もともと玉井宮と東照宮は別々の神社だったが、明治期になって合祀されたという。徳川家康と血縁を結んだ池田家の領地には、ほとんどと言っていいぐらい東照宮がある。面白いのは境内に全国の有名神社の遥拝所があることだ。伊勢神宮、熱田神宮などなどあちこちの遥拝所がぐるりと設けられている。さらには龍神や天満宮など人気の神様も。多くの市民の信仰を集めてきた人気の神社なのだろう。

路面電車の「東山」電停から徒歩5分ほど。東山公園の先に鳥居があり境内へと続く石段がある。
玉井宮は703年の創建。1085年に現在地に遷座。1645年に東照宮を勧請。1881年に玉井宮と東照宮を合祀。祭神は豊玉比売命、彦火々出見命、玉依比売命、徳川家康。拝殿は火災により焼失したため平成に再建されているが、本殿は1644年に造られたもの。樹木や囲いにさえぎられて良く見えないのが残念である。

本殿に、その年々の「大きい干支の置物」が供えられており、毎年初詣を楽しみにしている。

小高い山の上にあるので、緑豊かで静かな雰囲気でした。路面電車の東山電停から歩いて上ったので、かなりの階段がありました。鳥居をくぐると、石灯籠が両側に並んでいました。

岡山電気軌道の路面電車終点・東山電停から目の前の東山公園を上がって行くと鳥居がありました。そこから石段を上がって境内にやっと入りました。安産の神様のようで玉井宮本殿は、重要文化財に指定されていました。猶、境内の直ぐ近くに駐車場があり車での参拝が中心のようでした。

路面電車の終点駅、「東山」で降りると、その目の前に東山公園があります。その奥の小高い山の上にある神社です。本殿は重要文化財に登録されていますよ。

東山公園の奥の小さな山の上にあります。緑豊かでゆったりとした時間が流れているような神社です。重要文化財の本殿など境内には意外とたくさんの見どころがあり、興味深い神社でした。

JR岡山駅から、市内電車の東山行きに乗り、終点の東山電停下車。東山公園の坂を登ると立派なお宮が見えてくる。学問の神様として知られ、受験シーズンは多くの参拝客でにぎわう。市電運行の岡電が毎年線路に巻く砂を、「滑らない砂」として、受験生用のお守りに売っているのが面白い。
