Nishikawa Canal Park is rather a promenade along a canal. Although it is in the center of a big city, the water of the canal is clean and refreshing. Trees are planted on the both sides of the canal, and it creates a oasis of Okayama.

A peaceful park along a canal - right in the middle of the city. Take your time, enjoy the art and the way it changes from block to block. One of the absolute highlights of my visit to Okayama!

The Canal was a nice walk during the day. The trees give much needed shade during the hot day. The view is beautiful. I was lucky enough to be pulled into a Tai Chi session.

HOWEVER.... Do NOT go through the canal after dark. I made this mistake when I wanted to go for an evening walk by my hotel. The park becomes the red light district at night whch I guess makes sense considering the high number of hotels in the area I did one block and had multiple offers.

Nishigawa Canal Park near to JR Station was a pleasant place to relax after long walks to the castle and garden. There were benches, trees and statues around. Nice to rest here for a while and take photos in the vicinity as well.

This is a nice stroll along the canal with a few sculptures and a line of trees. Benches in one place or two to rest your legs and just soak up the nice atmosphere in the middle of a nice city

Our hotel was next to the canal so we could watch it from our room.
It’s not just a canal but nicely maintained and they made a very nice path along it where you can easily spend some time walking, sitting and watch the people go by.
Although it’s in the middle of Okayama, it doesn’t feel that way.

Wonderful to walk here, lot of places to sit, and you don't feel you are in the middle of a big and busy town. To be here in the high of the Sekura season made it perfect

I took a detour on my trip exploring Japan to visit this attraction as had read some 'excellent' reviews but was sadly very disappointed. Whilst nice for a pleasant stroll the canal is small and short with a booking time of 2-3 hours long for a very short trip. Many restaurants in the area were closed. Quaint for photographs as it was autumn with trees full of golden and rust leaves. Also, many interesting bridges.

The park is longer than it is wide but makes for a pleasant walk. There are fountains and flowers and benches for resting, reading and observing. If you want a break between activities this is a lively place to stop.

Interesting walkway through the city. The garden along the canal is pretty. There are lots of statues and quirks along the way. You can also dart off to a restaurant or convenience store as well.
