Kurashiki Rickshaw Tour

4 reviews
Discover Kurashiki the traditional way: on a rickshaw. As a shogunate crown colony in the Edo period (1603~1868), Kurashiki enjoyed prosperity by storing goods and products from all over Japan. Alongside the canals are white-wall Japanese style warehouses and traditional Japanese houses with willow trees on the bank. This tour can be customized to your preferred departure time, ending point, and length.

From Kurashiki Station you enter the Ario Mall through a small Loft store that just has stationery, cosmetics, travel stuff and a corner with smart phone accessories. Typically Loft it is all very high quality and if you are a foreign tourist it is worth a look round. The rest of the mall is very down to earth everyday stuff so not worth a special visit unless you need something. The food court is bright and clean but food is not very special, just basic food court fuel so you can get on with life. A lot of visitors will walk through this mall en route to the Mitsui Outlet Mall, but this is almost all US clothing and footwear brands, so again fine for locals but not worth the effort for visitors unless perhaps you need replacements on your travels. However what is worth looking at from the high level walkway between station and malls is the Danish themed square with a tall gothic clock that has little puppet shows at its top on the hour and supported by statues of Danish story teller Hans Christian Anderson, Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid and some Viking warriors.
