Situated just outside JR station a small office with lots of information leaflets and maps for Kurashiki and surrounding area.

Helpful and friendly staff. They can give you good ideas about the Bikan Historical area but also other things nearby that are worth visiting. They have plenty of maps and accompanying written materials and guides for Kurashiki and Okayama prefecture.

First thing to do: just stop by this TIC (tourist information center) which is 50m on the right just after the exit of the station. You will find maps and information on Kurashiki's places to see (though not so many) and a helpful staff.

We came to Kurashiki by train from Okayama so looked for a tourist information office nearby. This one proved to be just to the right after exiting the station and was well marked. Only one woman sat at the desk. She greeted us with a nice smile, spoke excellent English and proved to be extremely helpful.
All questions that we raised got answered to our satisfaction, and she gave us maps and brochures in English. The racks held additional material in English as well as other languages. We wanted to explore the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Area, so she gave us an excellent walking map, along with careful instructions on how to get there on foot.
For those with luggage, this center has lockers. It also offers Wi-Fi.

Like all other train stations, you can find tourist information and maps at this centre. Various language brochures are available for free. English speaking staff is usually on duty at the centre.

Good for picking up some maps. They can also direct you to certain places and tell you about opening times. And they had free wifi too for planing some onward traveling.
