A gentle boat ride through the canals of Kurashiki...the boat rides open at 9:00 or 9:30, It is better to get there early to make reservations for your desired time, as there are only 6 spaces on each boat.

There was no narration of any kind, but it was nice to relax on the water and take pictures from the canal.

A tourist must do, therefore vvery popular, best to get to Kurashiki and then go to the tourist center to book the time and get your ticket. Each boat only seats 6 person and each time slot only has 2 boats, so it gets full quickly during weekends and holidays. the guide will tell you about the history of Kurashiki and the different buildings along the river on the way, lasts about 15 min.

I went to the tourist information center at 10am to buy tickets, but all the morning tickets were sold out. I was able to buy tickets for the 2pm tour. It's very popular, so if you want to ride the morning tour, it's better to go earlier to buy your ticket. The boat slowly goes back and forth on the river that runs through the middle of the scenic area. Wearing a hat, I had a great time listening to the boatman's story. It was cheap, only one coin (500 yen).

I visited in June, and although things seemed to have calmed down, I was still concerned about COVID.
I walked from Kurashiki Station.
Maybe because it was June? Or maybe because of COVID? I felt lucky that it wasn't so crowded with tourists. First, I got a ticket.
I bought a ticket at Kurashikikan (tourist information center). It cost 500 yen, and the boat departed every 30 minutes. On some days, you might have to wait 1-2 hours, but we were lucky that we didn't have to wait that long.
The boat we took had four people, and it seems that there are various numbers of people on board. The look and atmosphere of riding on the boat with Mino umbrellas was perfect.
The view from the boat was of the storehouses with white walls and namako walls, and the townscape beyond the willow trees on both banks.
Other tourists strolling along the river were looking at us and taking pictures, and we were also taking pictures. That was also the case.
