I just visited there for an hour to have a look. But if you are hikers or into hiking, it's good tracking trail along the ocean. There are some hills ( we could say they're mountains). If it's summer, you can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, snorkelling and swimming!

We took the boat to this island from Tomonaura waterfront. Tomonoura itself is just a 20 minute bus ride from the bus station outside Fukuyama JR train station, althougj ignore the printing error in the Rough Guide to Japan. You need to catch the bus from stop number five, not fifteen (15 does'nt exist). The boat ride is only five... More

The island has several beaches (some of which require hiking and some seem only accessible by boat), nice hiking paths and some shops where you can buy drinks and ice cream. We went up to the other end of the... More

A little walk around this island , very touristy , visited mainly by the Japanese themselves , worth to see and enjoy the beach.

It's less than 10' from Tomo-no ura by ferry. There are several beaches and easy hikes (20', 30' and 60' round-trip). Great views and sunsets from the outlooks, a campsite with fixed tents (tatami + fridge (!)) and two ryokans.
