Sensui island has several power spots. The perfect place for a spiritual cleansing. We stayed at the Jinseikan ga Kawaru Yado 人生感が変わる宿「ここから」In a free translation it would be: “The inn your life will change (it starts here).

It is a beautiful small island in Tomonoura. If you come to Fukuyama city, it is highly recommended to extend your trip to come here (30min by bus from Fukuyama station).
From the ferry station, it takes only 5 min to come to this island. Seaside walking track is really nice and peaceful. Late afternoon walking was so nice with few people.

I just visited there for an hour to have a look. But if you are hikers or into hiking, it's good tracking trail along the ocean. There are some hills ( we could say they're mountains). If it's summer, you can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, snorkelling and swimming!

To be fair it’s in the middle of winter. Ice cream shop and everything on the island is closed but I love it here anyway. A must come during the summer and warmer months.

Beautiful little island with two hotels, a few vending machines, and several baths. We took a hike in the morning to see the colored rocks, and tried to see the sea-fireflies, but because it was raining, no luck. I would bring snacks, because the food at the hotels, while fresh and high quality, may not be quite what westerners are used to.

We took the boat to this island from Tomonaura waterfront. Tomonoura itself is just a 20 minute bus ride from the bus station outside Fukuyama JR train station, althougj ignore the printing error in the Rough Guide to Japan. You need to catch the bus from stop number five, not fifteen (15 does'nt exist). The boat ride is only five minutes and cost ¥540 yen for a round trip for two. The island is actually a national park and has great cliftop and rock hugging walks as well as some lovely beaches and fantastic raptors which circle quite close above you. Highly recommended.

It's less than 10' from Tomo-no ura by ferry. There are several beaches and easy hikes (20', 30' and 60' round-trip). Great views and sunsets from the outlooks, a campsite with fixed tents (tatami + fridge (!)) and two ryokans.

If you’re looking for a place to explore for a day, this place has about 5 miles of trails to various high points on the island.
It’s missed its hey day.

This little island is connected to Tomonoura by a ferry (5 minutes shore to shore). There's a hotel and restaurants so is possible to stay the night but even for a short break of a couple of hours is well worth a visit because of the great views and the calm atmosphere.

Great for exploring and the boat ride was fun. Has a few walking tracks to choose from. We picked a short walk to look at the "5-coloured rocks", it was very pleasant and calming for minds. We noticed some tourists booked to spend a night on the island, likely wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
