Trip to rainbow bridge at Okuoikojo Station
This was by far the most expensive trip I have ever taken in Japan in one day. From Tokyo, We took the shinkansen to Shizuoka station. Then another train to Kanaya station to take the very old steam engine train to Senzu station. Then another special train on the Ikagawa line to reach the rainbow bridge at Okuoikojo station. The station itself doesn't have much and is basic. The bridge is pretty from up above. We had to climb more than 200 steps to reach the platform to admire the bridge over the blue turquoise lake. This is a trip I would have never thought of doing due to the difficulty in finding information on how to reach that place in English. Our Japanese friend who is fond of train took us there. You got to be Japanese to do this journey. 4 trains back and forth (8 trains), some 8 hours journey on the various locomotives and all in for US$400 for 3 people just for the train rides. Worth it? yes it was. Beautiful scenery along the Ooi river, riding one of the oldes steam engine in the world, another special train on the Ikawa railway, crossing tea plantation, many tunnels and viewing from up above the Nagashima dam and simply enjoying friendship. It is fun with friends definitely.
