Loved this fish market! After touring the market, we went to the first floor sushi place near a hallway entrance. From the doorway you can see a row of one-seaters with tablet order monitors along a light coloured wood 'bar'. The main restaurant is behind that. The fellow on reception was very helpful, even though he didn't really speak English. It had iPads to order from each table, which WERE in perfect English. The range of fresh fish and types of sushi and sides was fantastic- and some were very creative. (And there was fish and chips, too for those who do not eat sushi). But the truly, truly amazing surprise was when the Shinkansen raced out of the kitchen, direct to our table, to deliver the order. Oh - the other amazing surprise was the price. $1 a piece for sushi. We ate heaps! Highly recommended!

Impromptu trip to this fish market. Not what I had expected.

It is a really clean place with 2 level of small restaurant selling fresh seafood! The hard part was actually choosing which shop to go into as all of them looks really good.

This is one of the stops for the Bay Ferry which can bring you over to S-Pulse Dream Plaza and Miho Beach. We choose to take a round trip on the ferry and caught a really magnificent view of Mt Fuji. (Take note of the time of the Ferry, i've uploaded it in the photo section. You can plan it nicely so that when you finish your meal, you can board the ferry immediately. We wasted 45mins waiting for the next ferry to arrive).

The fish market is just a 5 mins walk from the train station. This is a good place to visit when you are around this area (:

This fish market is on the waterfront approximately 3/4 mile from where our cruise ship docked. This is a busy place where the locals come & buy the catch of the day.

If you like visiting farmers' markets etc., this fish market is for you.

It is a nice walk to get out to stretch your legs, explore the city & build up an appetite for that next meal on the ship.

Shimizu Fish Market named KASHI-NO-ICHI is located just in front of JR Shimizu station. So, it is very convenient to shop fresh fish or marine products or eat sea food, especially tuna is one of the best selling product of the market. There are alot of restaurants serving tuna dish or tuna bowl (tuna on rice).
Unlike TSUKIJI, Shimizu market is so compact but has a variety of marine products that shoppers can find what they want to buy easily. The prices are relatively cheaper than that of Tokyo or major markets.
Outside of the market, Mt. Fuji is observed in front of you. So, why you drop in at the market on your way to Miho Pine Tree Groves, don't you?

This place has many seafood restaurants. The local crowd is quite substantial despite it being in the late afternoon on a weekday. We ate some sashimi and fish jaw at one of the restaurant upstairs. The food was certainly very fresh and inexpensive!

This market is easily accessible via a 5 minute walk along the walkway from the east side of Shimizu Station.

Most of the cruise ships offer a free shuttle to the Shimizu Fish Market.

The Shimizu Fish Market and is a great local market place to see and taste the local seafood. A variety of small restaurants offer sushi and the like.

Well worth walking around as you start or end your visit to Shimizu/Shizuoka. The Shimizu JR Train Station is across the street which can be easily accessed to Shizuoka and other areas.

Went Shimizu for short stay and the fish market is within walking distance from the hotel, so how can I not visit the freshest of the freshest seafood market? Went to the 2nd level restaurant to have my late lunch and I must say I'm totally in love with the fresh seafood rice! Took Uni rice, crab legs rice and fish roes rice, sashimi rice bowl and a tempura rice bowl all to share. It's simply delicious and super fresh! Do not miss this place the next time you visit Shizuoka or Shimizu!

The place opens between 09:30 and 10:00 in the morning and if you like fish and anything related to fish (dried, preserved, tinned), this is the place for you. I wished there would be more explanations for non Japanese speakers – but it of course a local market.
I had breakfast there: the biggest, plumpest and freshest oysters you could wish for, served with fresh lemon juice for 100 yen a piece, just wonderful. There are a couple of small places to eat within the confines of the market, I had my oysters from the guy at the stall.

We enjoyed the variety, and that you could buy everything in small portions, even a single oyster. Prices are moderate, and as we were afraid a special dish of sushi would be sold before our return, we paid it and the fishmonger kept it for us. Good and friendly service. We tried the restaurants too, and this is restaurant, wher you come to eat, and not for the fancy decoration.
