I wish I could write a zero star revieq, because the experience was so horrible. Animals have barely any space to move, monkey cages are tiny, they barely had any space to move not to say run or jump around. Hyenas were separated, one was...More

This is a small zoo but has an up close experience with many world iconic animals. Try out the roller slide especially if you have kids. Best exhibits were the penguins, seals, polar bears, chimps, and tigers.

Nicely located in Nihondaira, it s a nice quick getaway for half a day, especially for kids. Some venues have been recently renovated. Take the time to ride all the way to the top, to contemplate a nice overlook of Shizuoka city. They do events...More

One of the most reasonable priced at ¥610 per person. The red panda exhibit and roller slide could be all day for young children. Animals are well cared for and the little restaurants are pretty good. Even busy this zoo allows you to just flow...More

In the past decade this zoo has seen a vast amount of work and improvement. The visitor centre, primate enclosure and wild animal section (mainly where the big cats are) are all new and decent, but certain cages remain inadequate. Seeing an animal circled around...More

This is a very small zoo, and the animals seem to suffer for it. While some enclosures were somewhat suitable, some, like the hyenas, were downright pitiful. While I feel the keepers likely care for the animals, this just isn't enough.

The zoo is on the hill, recently renovated some parts. Good place to spend the day with your family. Our family loves animals, we visit Nihondaira Zoo every summer. There is a rope-way to go up the mountain where you can see a spectacular view...More

When we were there, it was drizzling and it seems that all the animals are taking shelter inside their quarters. Most of the animals enclosures are empty. So we managed to visit the indoor animals like turtles, penguin etc. The zoo closes at 4.30pm thus...More
