This is a garden built on the side of a hill with an excellent view of the sea. One is driven to the top and then left to walk down at one's own pace. At the top is a small shrine and large Japanese stone garden with evergreens. Then in February there are vast areas of yellow mustard flowers interspersed with flowering plum and cherry blossoms. Lower down one comes to the rose garden and then more formal gardens with various plants. Well worth a visit. Excellent photography possibilities and a good place for fresh air and to stretch one's legs.

When you arrive you buy tickets and a bus from garden will take you to top and then you have you walk back down.
They have a cafe on top of hill which is fanatic and have great views of ocean and mountain.
Great spot for photography.
If travelling with small kids be prepared for a steep walks. Overall our family had great time.

It is big and nice garden. We went in a hot sunny day . Umbrella were provided for guests to use. This is so considerate. Flowers were so nice . We saw summer flowers. There was courtesy bus taking people to top then guests to walk downhills which was easier. It’s a popular local attraction.

Lovely tiers of gardens. Never ending beauty of flowers and background of mountains. Truly lovely. English map was available. Bus takes you to the top, then enjoy walk down the tiers of gardens. Kyoto style Zen rock garden, natural flowers gardens bursting with bright colors and perfectly manicured rose garden with statues. Self guided, go at your own pace and enjoy.

This is a sort of "secret" garden located an hour outside of Tokyo about 15 minutes from Atami shinkansen station. They have an incredible amount of roses and other flowers there. They also have the biggest bonsai tree you'll ever see....

They drive you up to the top of the mountain in a little bus and then you walk down the mountain thru many different types of gardens.

If you time it in late April/early May you will see all the spring flowers blooming like crazy. Late May/June is full-blow rose garden blossoms.

If you time it right once a year they have a cos-play day where Japanese people who are into dressing up as nurses or Goldilocks or other unusual people are dressed up and wandering around the garden. It is really strange but fun to see it.

Didnt have long here so can only really talk about the restaurant. Great views and really nice food. Service was really slow and the staff seemed to be rushed and confused - even though it wasnt really busy!

Nice rose garden in Atami.
We enjoyed it in an autumn sunny day.
You can got up the hill with bus and confortably walk down.
On top of the hill there is a very nice and modern bar to enjoy the view.

I beg your pardon
I never promised you a rose garden
Along with the sunshine
There's gotta be a little rain some time
When you take you gotta give so live and let live
Or let go oh-whoa-whoa-whoa
I beg your pardon
I never promised you a rose garden

We visited this place on a cool and rainy summer day, and arrived with low expectations. However we found it well worth the 1,600 yen taxi ride from Atami station.

We took the shuttle bus to the top of the hill, where we were greeted with sweeping views of Sagami Bay and the lush green landscape surrounding it. From there we proceeded down the mountain, through the flower and herb themed gardens.

One attractive point was the crafts center where both kids and adults are able to make decorative items out of the local plants. The restaurant at the bottom of the hill also was pleasant, with a clear view of the bay from our table.

Our visit here was one of our better tourist experiences on Atami, and is recommended.
