My wife and I went there beacuase of the "big animals" show in the cover photo and we wanted to let our child to visit them. However, there is no such "big animals", maybe it is just a past special event. However, we did not leave immediately as we saw the area is quite relaxed. There is a big lake and it is just 2 km walk aorund the lake. As the weather is good when we were there, so we kept visiting there. We have found that it is a wildlife protection area that many many birds were staying on the lake, my kid was happy to see them and we all enjoyed there too and finally took about 1 hour to finish the lakeside path. Surprised that there is a child park at the end of the path, there are some slide facilities to let child to play a long time.…

Uwasekigata Park encircles Uwasekigata within its grounds in the rice fields to the southwest of downtown Niigata. It's a mini nature reserve for waterfowl and raptors like the Japanese black kites ("tonbi" in Japanese). Yellow nanohana and pink sakura make it a spectacular place to go in the spring, and the views of Mt. Kakuda rising direcly to the west are spectacular anytime of year.
