Bandai bridge is a stone arched bridge spanning the Shinano River. Standing on the bridge, one could see all the way to the river mouth out into the sea of Japan. Nice bridge and nice view.

This is the old bridge crossing over the Shinano river, which is the longest river in Japan. You must feel comfortable to take a walk on the bridge. The bridge has six elegant arches.

Nice walk across the bridge with an interesting view, but the bridge itself is nothing special. When you walk the city, you cross in anyway.

The bridge is near Bandai city so you can ride a bus(US$1.90) or walk 15 minutes from Niigata JR station to reach there. It has very elegant shape and you can walk along the Shinano river to enjoy the view

Almost guide book, travel media and city information brochures are using photographs of this bridge as the icon of Niigata city. The bridge connects large two towns in Niigata city, Bandai to Furumachi. So almost residents and tourists across the bridge many times during their...More

I'm not sure what is so exciting about this bridge. There are far better examples of concrete construction in many other cities. However, it does give easy access to Furu-machi (Old Town).

Apparently one of the city's top attractions. It's worth a look and a walk across if you're in Niigata. There's a plaque on the city-centre side with some quite interesting information, notably that the river itself used to be 3 times wider till it was...More

Best bridge to use when staying at the Hotel Okura to get across the river to the Shopping mall and restaurants. Large pedestrian walkway and viewing into the river.

I look down on this 4-lane bridge from my hotel in Niigata and it appears to be a basic river crossing. When I went for a closer inspection, I saw no special ornamentation or anything that would make this approximately 1,007-foot-long, 72-foot-wide span a must-see...More
