Located in the city so it is easy to access. Just take a few minutes to look around when you are on the way to and from the Matsumoto Castle. It is next to Nawate Street or near Nakamachi Street.

Lots of shrines to visit, this one is quite pretty in its own right though. Worth a look if you are going past it.

Right next to the riverside Nawate street so easy to duck in. There's a picturesque square and a well-kept shrine building, but the newer bright wood building might be more interesting.

We visited this Shrine twice - once in the evening and once in the daytime. It's in a central locale, and abuts Nawate Street, so you'll probably go past it more than once when walking around Matsumoto, as we did. It's very popular with the locals - we saw no one at Matsumoto Shrine, but there was a constant stream... More

We went there a couple of times during our stay in Matsumoto. Well kept shrine, clean and very central along the main shopping street. Some smaller shrines on the property. They sell the normal souvenirs and charms. Some with nice colors. It is supposed to be a power spot as well. Visiting the shire is recommended if you want a... More

Small shinto shrine located near nawate street and nakamachi street. It is walkable from JR station. Nice in autumn with leaves changing into yellow and red.

We saw this shrine on our way to the Castle. There is a stone stele saying it was once the palace for the Meiji emporer. I wish there were more information about the history but by strolling around the area, couldn't find out more.
