A tourist center attached to the bus terminal.
If you arrive on an overnight bus, most of the facilities will be closed, but the restaurant here opens early.
The water you can draw seems to be drawn from the Shimizu River, and is the same as the water provided at Kappa Bridge.
There are souvenir shops, some snacks and soft-serve ice cream, so it's a good place to kill time while waiting for the bus.

There is a visitor center, bus terminal, a few shops, and small cafes. Not much to see or do, but enough to get you started on your visit. Charge to use the toilets.

My Japanese is a bit lacking, so it was very nice to visit this center for English information. There's a Japanese lady here that cearly articulates and disseminates information, in English. This was extremely helpful!

In the midst of snowy mountains, with excellent hiking available. A light 5-6km walk up the valley was well worth it. We came as day trip and the bus trip to and fro was an excellent part o9f the day

This visitors centre is nice and new featuring a number of interesting maps of the area- especially the 3D map of the mountains. There are also showers for a low price which I made use of before getting on the bus back to Osaka.

After walking for a long time, we stopped here for lunch and then walked further to Moyjin Bridge.

There is Kappa Bridge that many people take photos and pass by.

There are cafes and souvenir shops.

Beautiful alpine scenery in the Chubu Sangaku National Park. Visited this park in early October. It is open from Late April until November 15. There are hiking trails for all level of adventurers. Some tent camping for backpacking or just taking a long or short stroll. Food, shops and nature center fit the surroundings, with alpine river, mountain peaks and Pine forests. A very popular place, judging from the parking lot. I believe that no private cars are permitted from the base, but a train from Matsumoto transferes to buses that take you to the center. A bus route can also be taken from the Takayama Bus center. This is a spectacular setting and photographers dream.
