It was a typical fall weather day with intermittent rain when we embarked in the morning from Matsumoto to Kamikochi. Took the train to Shin-shimashima and from there the bus to Kamikochi.

This is a beautiful pond, definitely worth a visit. But the whole Kamikochi area is otherworldly, so that I wouldn't rank this the most spectacular. Don't get me wrong, though, it's still nice and charming, esp in the autumn colour season.

I stayed at the Gosenjaku Hotel there are many walks you can do , walking to Taisho pond is one of them. The walk follows the Azusa river , it is not difficult or strenuous , a great way to spend a few hours.
