The woodworking on these gates was fascinating. The quality of building in Japan is something that everyone should strive for.

Huge wooden tori gate at the entrance to Kanazawa Station. A very distinctive local landmark and meeting point. I saw local news crew filming there almost daily. Makes for great photos. It is lit at night with changing colours. A beautiful piece.

Great photo opportunity - it is the most striking part of Kanazawa Station with its massive wooden gate. I understand it means: Tsuzumi-Mon (Drum Gate) and Motenashi Dome (Welcome Dome) which are two impressive symbols.
