Fascinating place. Amazed to see how an ounce of gold could be 'teased' into a sheet almost a metre square in the production of Gold Leaf. While there had a coffee sprinkled with gold and as ice cream similarly adorned. Beautiful Samurai Armor adorned with...More

We had seen gold leaf production by hand in Myanmar and the process is essentially the same but here they used mechanized hammers. The museum does not actually demonstrate but it is modern, well displayed and informative.

An interesting experience, now I understand how they make gold leaf and quite educational. Only takes half an hour or so, so make the time to stop in.

I really enjoyed this museum. Be sure to leave an hour to see it. It was very interesting to learn about the history and process of gold leaf production. It made our appreciation of the art and Kanazawa that much more.
