Interesting from an historical architectural perspective, viewed largely by walking the streets. A couple of buildings are open to the public for a fee. Certainly photogenic.

This is an old area of Kanazawa with wooden geisha houses. It gives you a good insight into how Japan used to be hundreds of years ago and is worth a visit considering there are not many districts like this in some of the larger...More

Such an authentic neighborhood. Real people, real homes, real flavor, real ambiance. This neighborhood has it all. Even a great souvenir shop.

Nice to walk around, particularly during the cherry blossom season. Well preserved, and there are several small museums / houses - but not all that much to see when all said and done.

A picturesque & atmospheric little district. We really enjoyed wandering about imaging times gone by. We loved the short roofed earthen walls and small canals. There are a couple of things to visit, notably the Nomura house which was great, but the pleasure for us...More

I'm giving 2 stars because of the museum. It's only 300¥ entrance but all there is to see are two suits of armour. Not even any swords. What a total rip off, ruined the visit to this area. Had to post here as there is...More

The district is the Samurai quarters. Unfortunately, there are not many leftover traces of the Samurai. One particular Samurai house we visited in the vicinity had hardly any items in it - you are looking at wide open spaces, a few swords and some nicely...More

Samurai’s, shops, restaurants, and winding alleys! Quite the treat to explore and view the historic structures as well as investigate the shops, especially the pottery shops, in the Nagamachi District. Well worth several hours.

Beautiful, historic old part of Kanazawa. Old buildings in perfect restored condition line the streets hosting restaurants, crafts, artists, and a variety of other local Kanazawa specialities. A great place to walk around and take in the sights and flavours.
