About
A brewery of the sake "Sansha" that has been around for 200 years since the Edo period. At the directly managed stores, you can enjoy paid tasting (450 yen) and seasonal sake (200 yen). There are also plenty of sweets made with sake. You can enjoy Daiginjo Sake soft serve ice cream (mid-March to mid-November), local sake pudding, local sake cheesecake bar, local sake jelly, local sake manju, etc. at the cafe corner. Of course, we also have a large selection of our proud sake, mainly seasonal sake.

He gave us a very detailed and easy-to-understand explanation of Takayama's history and geography, the characteristics of Hirase Sake Brewery, and the sake brewing process. We were even shown inside the sake brewery, so we got a good understanding of the manufacturing process. He also explained the characteristics of each sake during the tasting, so that combined with the taste, we were able to gain a deeper understanding. It was a great tour! Thank you very much!

We loved the experience of trying different sakes. The place is traditional and homemade, in addition to sake they sell other very rich local products (they give you to try some, we buy one of miso and pepper, super rich). We did the sake tasting (which, has a very affordable price and you take the souvenir glass), we really liked the activity and the sake was very delicious. Highly recommended.

Cute sake brewery in old town if you are looking to try different types of sake. It is self-serve and you pay for a tasting and get a cup (and a bag to take it home). There were maybe 10-12 different types of sake you could try for 450 yen, which seemed like a good deal! You can also buy bottles, and I think full glasses if you just want to sit and enjoy it. There was a decent amount of seating. Overall good and cool experience.

We thought we could take a look at the winery but that's not the case.
What they offer is a tasting. Not a tasting.
You buy a small glass (you can take it with you) and you have a lot of types of sake (like 12 or 15) for you to try. It is indicated that it is not for you to drink whatever you want, it is for you to try once of each.
We were not able to try even half of it.
There are too many, especially because there is no one to tell you the differences between one and the other.
I was expecting something with a little information about the brewing process, and the characteristics of sake.
It is not like this.
There is also a store.

Purchased a sake cup for Y300 and you'll be able to sample all the different grades of sake. We requested one with a slight tinge of fruity flavored one. They have a Rice Milk which is unique. You can ask for sampling. Purchased Sake flavored Cheesecake but didn't realize it had such a short validity due to no preservatives. Remember to check. The Sake flavored Beef Curry has got few pieces of potatoes and beef in it. Suggest you add some steam carrots into it because the gravy is really tasty.

Apparently some people come here as part of a tour or coupon deal. We just happened to find it on our own while walking through the area. It was not crowded when we came and we tried all the sakes in the tasting case. It was a lot of fun and we really liked getting to compare all the samples.

The Harada Brewery is in the center of Sanmachi Suji, the old merchant area. This brewery takes the approach that you have to taste sake in order to appreciate the different types. I agree. You buy a little tasting cup for 150円 /150¥ and can then take your pick from among many different varieties on offer. There really is a difference, a few I liked rather a lot! There is a comfortable seating area to sit and enjoy your sake and meet others who are tasting as well. You can see the huge wooden vats in which the sake is brewed, although we came too late for a tour. Sake is also packaged in many different sizes and different ways to take away or ship as gifts or for yourself.

My friend loves to drink so we stopped in and for a small price was able to sample from many different Sakes. Their were many others with the same passion and they enjoyed themselves a great deal. If this is something you like their is no better place.

Today my wife and I visited the Harada Sake Brewery and since I'm a sake fan Iwanted to take part in their tasting, even it was 10 in the morning. Fourteen different sakes awaited me and after having bought this little sake cup (200yen) from the friendly staff the party started. Oh boy what a nice collection they have to try. After waiting patiently my wife left the brewery with two bottles of sake and quite a tipsy me... Highly recommended!

You can purchase a small sake cup for 200 yen and get to try all the sake that is displayed in the fridge. I wanted to buy some back but was spoiled for choices, so it may be easier to ask the staff's recommendation to help you out.
