Founded in 1182 as Amaterasu-koji Temple, a Tendai sect temple.
It fell into decline for a time, converted to the Jodo sect around 1615, and renamed Amaterasu-ji Temple.
It is a historic temple that was entrusted to Matsudaira Tadateru in 1618 and Kato Mitsumasa in 1632.
Although it is a historic temple, it was rebuilt in 1881.
As a result, it looks new and its historic past does not feel as historic.
I knew there was a youth hostel in Takayama, but it took me a while to connect the main hall with the youth hostel.
(The youth hostel is currently closed.)

古い町並みから歩いて10分もかからない距離。紅葉のトンネルが有名で、トレビでも紹介されていたので、とことこ歩いて行ってみました。気持ちの良い秋晴れの日曜だったのに、観光客は数人程度で快適。入場料などもなくある意味、穴場な感じです。目に痛いほどの真っ赤に紅葉でした。

高山駅から徒歩20分ほど。東山寺院群の一寺。
1182年に天台宗の寺院「天照皇寺」として創建。1615年頃に浄土宗に改宗し「天照寺」に改称。本尊は阿弥陀如来(市指定文化財)。本堂は1881年に再建されたもので木造銅板葺き。神仏分離により寺号を「天性寺」と変更させられた時期があり、その時に付けられた地名(天性寺町)が今でも残っている。

１１８２年頃、天台宗の寺院として天照皇寺と称して創建されました。その後衰微しましたが、１６１５年頃に浄土宗天照寺として再建されました。高田藩主・松平忠輝や加藤清正の孫・光正も高山城主金森家の預かりとなり、この寺で過ごしました。庫裏をユースホステルとして利用しており、海外からの観光客にも人気あるそうです。

Ce temple se trouve sur le circuit de temples de la ville. Celui-ci est juste avant le temple Hokkenji. Il se trouve sur les hauteurs de la ville, la vue y est agréable. Nous n'avons pas pu entrer à l'intérieur mais c'est un bel endroit.
