I would like to tell my friends and would like to come again with them. This is what I thought after finishing their tour of Satoyama Experience which I tried cycling in Satoyama there. Thank you very much for all the hospitality, Satoyama Experience!

An autumn walk along the canals resplendent with carp on their last day before moving to their wintering pond, past Buddhist temples, the festival 'drum', a sake factory and hand-made candles made for an outstanding afternoon in Furukawa. With Hisa as our guide, our small group learned about many local features of this picturesque town as well as viewing a... More

A highly enjoyable and fun ride through the Hida countryside. The bikes were first class and our guide Hisa was excellent with an in depth knowledge of the area taking us to places that we would never otherwise have discovered. Thoroughly recommended. Malcolm and Gillian, London

We were fortunate to have a lovely autumn day for our three hour cycling tour of this beautiful region. There were nine in our group, seven from Japan and us Aussies. Our friendly guide Tatsu spoke good English so we did not miss out on the interesting explanations. It was good to hear about the rice farming in this region,... More

We had a 3 hours cycling tour through the country side of Hida Furukawa. Unfortunately the weather was grey, chilly and windy, but we had a warm welcome at the office of Satoyama Experience, and soon we were on the way. Our guide Hisa was competent, he could answer to all of our questions. With him we discovered the local... More

I did the afternoon halfday cycling tour (1400-16:30). Not a bad time actually because you get to see the sunset. Guide (sorry couldn't remember his name!) was awesome - spoke fluent English and was always happy to take questions. He also seem to know everyone in the neighbourhood and we received dried persimmons from an obasan and also got invited... More

We did the 2.5 hour ride on a gloriously sunny day. The bikes were decent quality and our guide was very funny and friendly with a good grasp of English. The pace of the ride is very sedate. Well worth doing.

Masayo met our group of 4 adults on time and communicated English very well. We started with a leisurely stroll thru the morning markets, the city centre proper with its traditional heritage buildings and homes and tasted a variety of local foods including the making and tasting of tofu, candy and sake. Masayo is very proud of her city and... More

A most enjoyable activity, different from the regular tourist things to do. A peaceful & scenic ride through the "real" Japanese countryside. Very easy ride with many stops along the way. Our guide Hiro gave us lots of information and looked after us well. He is also one of the happiest people we have ever met - great to hear... More

Interesting insights during casual bike ride. Outside mass tourism. Charming small town. 20 min train ride from Takayama. Great Hida beef restaurant chez Mazda ( yellow house 3 mins from JR station)
