A very wonderful experience by my family of 4. We were greeted by very friendly host (guide) Mr. Hisa and Mr. Hiro the moment we stepped down from the public bus. It was a wonderful snow shoeing experience enhanced by the mild snowing and scenic landscape. The guides were very friendly and patience with us and We would strongly recommend... More

We participated in a custom tour arranged by Satoyama Experience. We met Miyuki at the Sake Brewery in Takayama where we learnt many of the interesting things about Sake brewing and the different types available. After this, Miyuki then guided us through part of the town, pointing out interesting things along the way, before we were joined by Midori who... More

Spent a great afternoon learning about local history, architecture, economy & so much more. Friendly, super knowledgeable guide & one of the highlights of our trip to the Hida region.

Originally booked their snowshoe tour, but it was a mild December so there wasn't much snow. We switched to a village walking tour and had a wonderful morning with our guide. He took us to various spots in the village (rice factory, local festival museum, cafe, sake brewery, etc) and explained much more than we would ever have learned on... More

Seriously a bunch of fun. The guide was awesome and had probably the best English of anyone we have met in Japan so far. Very informative and personal. Thanks Hero, you deserve a raise.

Normally this tour is only in the morning, but my brother and I could do it in the afternoon. Our guide was a really nice man with a lot of knowledge, good language skills and strong communication skills. He took us to a tofu shop, a sake brewery, a miso shop, a sweet shop and also a teahouse where we... More

As part of our free and easy tour to Japan from 18-26 December 2016, we (2 adults and 2 teenagers) joined a day tour to Shinhotaka as we wanted to see some snow after spending a few days of our trip in cities. The original itinerary of the tour included a snowshoeing experience. However, due to a warmer winter this... More

I have experienced the tour focused on Sake & Japanese Cooking from Satoyama Experience. It took place at Takayama, in both a Sake Brewery and a kitchen. That was great to understand how japanese sake is made and to try some sakes after understanding why they have different tastes, colors and alcohol pourcentages. After the sake Brewery, we walked a... More

In late autumn we took a 3.5 hour cycle through the beautiful countryside around Hida-Furukawa. Our guide, Hisa, was very professional, friendly, eager to share with us his love of the area, and able to answer all our questions. We visited the local fruit and vegetable supplier, and enjoyed a cup of tea beside the river. The well-planned route was... More

My husband and I really enjoyed the bicycle tour led by Shinji through the country side in the Hida area, outside of Takayama, in the Japanese Alps. We enjoyed learning about the culture and agriculture of that area. There was very little vehicle traffic and the terrain was mostly flat. We had rainy weather for our 3 hour tour, but... More
